Up River’s first record reminds me of a young Birds in Row (whom I love); raw, stripped back and in it’s infancy as a professional project. Something that you know is going to develop and blossom into something pretty special. They have really grown into themselves with this new EP, much heavier, with Coverge-esque power and thought provoking subject matters.
I highly recommend reading the heartbreaking circumstances in which Alex from moon.coma was inspired to create the new EP artwork. It is incredibly sad but a beautiful tribute. You can read about it here.
